Alex is a Costs Lawyer with over a decade of experience in high-value, complex and technically-demanding costs litigation. He is an experienced advocate who appears frequently in County Courts and the SCCO; and who has also appeared in specialist fora including the Upper Tribunal and the Supreme Court.
During his career he has dealt with a wide range of costs disputes, with a focus on commercial and chancery matters. He has conducted costs litigation in Courts at all levels and has had conduct of costs appeals in the County Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Alex also has a practice in non-contentious costs matters, particularly in relation to the formation or variation of contracts of retainer; and in advising on funding options. He has been instructed by large organisations during the course of litigation to advise at board level on legal spending, budgeting, reserving and making provisions in annual accounts.
In addition to his fee earning work, Alex regularly delivers training in costs matters, both to clients and to trainee solicitors as part of the Professional Skills Course through BPP, for whom he is a freelance presenter. Alex has authored chapters for the Butterworths Personal Injury Litigation Service; and he regularly contributes to other LexisNexis publications.
In his spare time Alex enjoys running and is currently working on his 10k and half marathon times.
